Before and after epoxy flake floor installation in a Calgary garage — bare concrete vs. finished system

Calgary Epoxy Flooring Projects

Three completed projects across Calgary. Garage floors, basement slabs, and commercial shop floors. Each one diamond ground, primer-sealed, and finished with commercial-grade polyaspartic.

NW Calgary Residential Garage: Full Flake System

Calgary, AB · Residential · ~550 sq ft

The homeowner had two previous quotes before reaching out. Both were acid-etch and roll. This slab had moisture issues and a history of surface sealer that had to be fully removed before any coating could bond. We diamond ground to a CSP 3 profile, tested moisture vapour emission, applied a moisture-mitigating primer, then installed a full broadcast vinyl flake system with a UV-stable polyaspartic topcoat. The floor has been in service through two Calgary winters with zero issues.

System: Full Broadcast Vinyl Flake + Polyaspartic Topcoat

Prep: Diamond Ground to CSP 3 · Moisture Testing · Moisture-Mitigating Primer

Topcoat: 2-component UV-stable polyaspartic

Timeline: 2 days

SE Calgary Basement Floor: Metallic Epoxy System

Calgary, AB · Residential · ~700 sq ft

Basement slab with high moisture vapour emission readings at initial assessment. The homeowner wanted a metallic finish but had concerns about whether the floor would hold given the moisture readings. We used a two-coat moisture-mitigating primer system rated for high-MVE slabs, followed by a custom grey metallic epoxy mid-coat and a matte polyaspartic topcoat. The result is a seamless, high-performance floor that handles the moisture load while delivering the aesthetic the homeowner wanted.

System: Metallic Epoxy + Polyaspartic Topcoat

Prep: Diamond Ground · High-MVE Moisture Primer System

Topcoat: Matte polyaspartic

Timeline: 2 days

NE Calgary Commercial Shop Floor: Industrial Quartz System

Calgary, AB · Commercial · ~1,800 sq ft

Automotive service shop with a slab that had been previously coated and was delaminating in sections. Full removal of the existing coating, diamond grinding to raw concrete, crack repair and joint filling, then a commercial broadcast quartz system with a high-build epoxy base and chemical-resistant polyaspartic topcoat. This system is rated for vehicle traffic, oil, hydraulic fluid, and heavy cleaning. The shop runs seven days a week. The floor has held without issue.

System: Broadcast Quartz + Chemical-Resistant Polyaspartic

Prep: Full coating removal · Diamond Ground to CSP 3 · Crack repair

Topcoat: Chemical-resistant polyaspartic

Timeline: 3 days

Double Garage, Okotoks

540 sq ft double garage with a failed DIY sealer and oil contamination. Diamond ground, crack repaired, and installed with Domino Flake over 100% solids epoxy. Full case study with process notes.
