Flake epoxy garage floor coating is a multi-layer system - 100% solids epoxy base coat, vinyl flake broadcast for texture and colour, and a polyaspartic topcoat for UV stability and durability. Professionally installed in Calgary with diamond-ground prep and moisture barrier, a Flake floor lasts up to 15 years.
Why Flake
Vinyl flake broadcast into epoxy creates a surface that handles daily traffic, dropped tools, and vehicle weight without chipping or peeling.
The flake texture adds natural grip underfoot - no additional grit needed in most residential and light commercial applications.
Smooth, continuous surface with no grout lines. Oil, dirt, and road salt wipe clean. No special cleaners required.
UV-stable polyaspartic topcoat locks in colour and sheen. Won't yellow or fade in Calgary's high-UV summers.
Sweep it, mop it, done. The continuous surface doesn't trap dirt, oil, or road salt - and holds up without recoating or resealing.
Minimal disruption to your space. We work efficiently so you're back to normal as quickly as conditions allow.
Flake epoxy uses vinyl chip broadcast into a pigmented epoxy base, creating a surface that's durable, low-maintenance, and available in a wide range of colours and flake blends. The chips are broadcast into the wet base layer and locked under a UV-stable polyaspartic topcoat, producing a smooth, durable finish that handles daily residential and light commercial use without issue.
Every install starts with diamond grinding and a moisture barrier - no exceptions. After prep, a pigmented epoxy base goes down, flake is broadcast to full coverage, excess is scraped and vacuumed, and the surface is sealed with a commercial-grade polyaspartic topcoat. The result is a hard-wearing, easy-to-clean floor with no grout lines and no joints.
Calgary garages are tested hard every year: road salt tracked in on tires, rapid temperature swings from -30C to +15C in the same week, and melt water pooling on the slab. Flake epoxy is built for all of it. The UV-stable topcoat prevents yellowing through years of Alberta sun, the vinyl chip texture maintains grip when the floor is wet from snow melt, and the full-broadcast surface is chemically resistant to oil, de-icers, and garage solvents. Properly installed, it won't peel, lift, or delaminate - even under hot tires.
A flake epoxy floor that was diamond ground, moisture sealed, and finished with a commercial-grade UV topcoat can last up to 15+ years. The lifespan depends almost entirely on prep - not the colour you pick or the chip size. Floors that were acid-etched instead of ground, or installed without a moisture barrier, tend to delaminate within a few years. That's why every EFC install starts with the slab, not the product. If the foundation isn't right, nothing applied over it will last.
